Acampar es una experiencia maravillosa, donde puedes disfrutar de la naturaleza y hospedarte bajo un millón de estrellas. Sin embargo, cada lugar de camping ofrece diferentes servicios y comodidades. Puerto Rico tiene lugares maravillosos para esta actividad. Algunos privados donde tienes que pagar por el espacio y las facilidades, otros públicos donde no tiene ningún costo, por lo regular estos sitios no tiene ninguna facilidad. Las facilidades que ofrecen algunos lugares son: baño con ducha y servicio sanitario, electricidad, agua, gazebos, área de fogata, cocinas con estufa, BBQ y fregadero y hasta Wifi. Otros son lugares muy rústicos donde el acampante debe suplirse todas estas necesidades y comodidades. En los lugares donde se paga, el precio por la estadía no siempre es proporcional a las facilidades ofrecidas.

Compartiré con ustedes descripciones y reseñas de los lugares que he visitado y los que continuaré visitando. Para clasificar un lugar observo 5 características principales: Ubicación, Infraestructura, Seguridad y confianza, Actividades y el Espacio para acampar. En este post, te explicaré los criterios que utilizo para reseñar los lugares que he visitado.

Ubicación

La ubicación es un factor clave al momento de evaluar un lugar de camping. Un buen lugar de camping debe estar rodeado de hermosos paisajes naturales, como montañas, ríos, bosques o playas. Es importante conocer cuan accesible es el lugar que visitaras, si se puede llegar en cualquier tipo de vehículo o es necesario un vehículo 4 x4.

Infraestructura

La infraestructura del lugar de camping también es importante. Algunos lugares, por lo regular por algún costo, ofrecen facilidades de electricidad o iluminación, agua, baños con ducha y servicios sanitarios, gazebos, área para fogatas, facilidades de cocina como estufa, BBQ y fregadero. Algunos incluso ofrecen servicio de wifi. En mi opinión hay algunas necesidades esenciales que es bueno contar con ellas como agua, y baños. Pero si realmente acampas para disfrutar de la naturaleza, no es necesario Wifi o electricidad. Las otras facilidades para acampar con comodidad las vamos a discutir más adelante.

Seguridad o confianza

Obviamente ningún lugar es cien por ciento seguro cuando se trata de estar al aire libre pero siempre es mas seguro un lugar con acceso controlado que un lugar abierto, público, donde cualquiera pude llegar a cualquier hora y acercarse a tu casa (caseta). Para disfrutar la aventura es importante sentirse en confianza.

Actividades

¿Qué actividades se pueden realizar en el lugar de camping? Esta es una pregunta importante al momento de evaluar un lugar. En un camping hay muchas cosas para hacer, montar el campamento, desmontar, cocinar, leer, descansar, senderismo, correr bicicleta y kayak, compartir con amistades. Yo prefiero los que tienen ríos, caminatas o playas. Si te gusta estar activo y disfrutar de la naturaleza, es importante que el lugar de camping ofrezca actividades que se ajusten a tus intereses.

Espacio

Muchos lugares de camping son muy populares y aunque no es seguro acampar solos tampoco es cómodo estar en un lugar muy atestado de casetas, overland, casas rodantes y otros vecinos, algunas veces algo ruidosos. Los lugares donde aceptan overland son los más recomendados pues, aunque estes en caseta de piso, puedes llegar con tu vehículo hasta el área de acampar y mantener parte del equipo de camping, por ejemplo, la nevera, en tu vehículo. Otras áreas de acampar no permiten entrar los vehículos, o sea, te estacionas en un lugar y llevas el equipo de acampar al área designada. Estos lugares son muy seguros para niños pequeños, pues no habrá vehículos transitando por el área.

Estos son algunos de los criterios que utilizo al momento de reseñar lugares de camping. Cada persona tiene diferentes preferencias y necesidades, yo evaluaré los lugares visitados con una estrella por cada uno de estos criterios que cumpla. Recuerda que lo importante es: ¡Disfrutar de la naturaleza y de la aventura de camping!

Camping is a wonderful experience, where you can enjoy nature and stay under a million stars. However, each campsite offers different services and amenities. Puerto Rico has wonderful places for this activity. Some are private where you have to pay for the space and facilities, other public sites is no cost, usually these places do not have any facilities. The facilities offered by some places are bathrooms with shower and toilet, electricity, water, gazebos, campfire area, kitchens with stove, BBQ and sink and even Wi-Fi. Others are very rustic places where the camper must provide all these needs and comforts. In places where you pay, the price for the stay is not always proportional to the facilities offered.

I will share with you descriptions and reviews of the places I have visited and those I will visit. To classify a site, I look at 5 main characteristics: Location, Infrastructure, Safety and trust, Activities and Camping space. In this post, I will explain the criteria I use to review the places I have visited.

Location

Location is a key factor when evaluating a campsite. A good camping spot should be surrounded by beautiful natural landscapes, such as mountains, rivers, forests, or beaches. It is important to know how accessible the place you will visit is, if it can be reached by any type of vehicle or if a 4 x 4 vehicle is necessary.

Infrastructure

The infrastructure of the campsite is also important. Some places, usually for a fee, offer electricity or lighting facilities, water, bathrooms with shower and toilets, gazebos, campfire area, kitchen facilities such as stove, BBQ and sink. Some even offer Wi-Fi service. In my opinion there are some essential needs that are good to have, such as water and bathrooms. But if you really camp to enjoy nature, Wi-Fi or electricity is not necessary. We will discuss some stuff for comfortable camping later.

Security

Obviously, no place is one hundred percent safe when it comes to being outdoors, but a place with controlled access is always safer than an open, public place, where anyone can arrive at any time and approach your house (tent). To enjoy the adventure, it is important to feel confident.

Activities

What activities can be done at the camping site? This is an important question when evaluating a location. At a campsite there are many things to do, set up camp, disassemble, cook, read, rest, hike, bike, and kayak, and share with friends. I prefer those with rivers, walks or beaches. If you like to be active and enjoy nature, it is important that the campsite offers activities that suit your interests.

Space

Many camping places are very popular and although it is not safe to camp alone, it is not comfortable to be in a place that is very crowded with cabins, overland’s, mobile homes, and other neighbors, sometimes somewhat noisy. The places where overland is accepted are the most recommended because, even if you are in a flat cabin, you can drive your vehicle to the camping area and keep part of the camping equipment, for example, the refrigerator, in your vehicle. Other camping areas do not allow vehicles to enter, that is, you park in a spot and take your camping equipment to the designated area. These places are very safe for small children, as there will be no vehicles passing through the area.

These are some of the criteria I use when reviewing camping places. Each person has different preferences and needs, I will evaluate the places visited with a star for each of these criteria that it meets. Enjoy nature and the camping adventure!
